A few months ago, Lee Bassard, his wife, and four kids moved to Boise, Idaho, so that Lee could join our Idaho team as a project executive. They were leaving behind their life in the Bay area, where Lee had worked in project management for a millwright company. They left the warmth and sunshine of California and came to Idaho, excited and ready for the next adventure. His kids were so excited when they saw snow the first time they started playing with it in their flip-flops!
Our team at UMC, Inc. is just as excited as Lee’s kids to have him join our team here in Idaho. He has a wealth of experience managing projects for large tech companies, and we are so happy with what he is bringing to the table for our Idaho team. As Lee says, our Idaho office has a bit of a startup feel. We are still working on getting a permanent office in place, so the team is working out of temporary spaces for now, and the team is learning to grow together as we take on more and more projects in the Idaho area. That was part of the appeal to join UMC for Lee. He was looking for a more challenging role where he could stretch and grow, as he helped bring a team together, and he’s certainly doing that in Idaho!
Our Idaho team is growing fast. We’re taking on some new and exciting projects, like the Capital Student Housing project, which starts in May, and closing on a few others that have been in the works. Lee oversees all of our work in the Idaho area and gets to see how each project comes together. As he says, the work is coming in fast for our team, and he’s working hard to make sure that our Idaho team is up to the task!
To help our team come together in Idaho, Lee is relying on the core values of UMC. Those values and our commitment to them drew him to UMC in the first place. He loves how our company is committing to being different and developing a culture of excellence and quality. His goal is to instill these values into his team here in Idaho so they can deliver the best service for their customers and fellow employees.
One of the ways that Lee is helping develop our team in Idaho is through investing in personal relationships with team members. He’s been having many interviews with employees to see how they are doing and how things are progressing for them, especially with new employees. Lee believes that UMC invests in its employees and is determined to ensure his team in Idaho has the support they need.
For now, Lee is working hard to manage our growth in Idaho. It may feel like a startup now, but we’re growing fast. Already this year, we’ve tripled our work compared to last year. Many of our employees in Idaho have been with UMC for less than a year, so Lee is working hard to ensure everyone is prepared and ready for the growth ahead. We’re grateful to have Lee as a member of our UMC team, and we know he will do great things in our Idaho division!
