Paul Aldana, UMC, 2023
More than ten years ago, UMC, Inc. expanded into Colorado state, and since then, our company’s growth in the ‘Centennial State’ has only grown. Recently, we sat down and talked to Paul Aldana, one of UMC’s newest project executives responsible for overseeing the Colorado region. Paul shared his insight on how UMC has grown so quickly in Colorado and his journey to managing our company’s growth in the state.
Paul joined UMC, Inc. in Utah as a journeyman plumber in 2013. Quickly he recognized that this was no ordinary plumbing and HVAC company. He realized that here at UMC, our leadership team is focused on helping each employee develop and grow to be their best selves. Paul loves a challenge, and when he was offered an opportunity to move into a general superintendent position in Colorado, he took it.
Once he was in Colorado, UMC restructured and created project manager positions to oversee the numerous projects in the state. Paul moved into one of these positions and soon managed several Colorado projects. According to Paul, this structure shift helped the Colorado team grow and thrive. In his role, he coordinated with the team on the job sites, helped with planning for each project, and pushed the company’s growth in Colorado to new heights.
Now, things in Colorado are expanding rapidly for UMC. For example, our plumbing team recently completed several projects, including the Thrive project with the Denver Housing Authority. This residential building includes 135 low-income housing units and will be a huge asset for the community. This project and many more have been excellent opportunities for our team in Colorado to expand their skill set and deliver quality work for our project partners.
As Paul shared, growth is happening fast here in Colorado for UMC. One of the projects he’s most excited about is the Belleview North Tower in Denver. It will be UMC’s first high rise in Colorado at 21 stories tall. It will total 382 units with a mix of residential and hotel suites. Projects like the Bellevue Tower wouldn’t have been possible for the team when Paul first moved to the state, but that’s not the case anymore. UMC is committed to growth and recently invested in sophisticated planning software tools that are helping our teams better manage productivity, plan, and set goals. Paul sees this investment as proof of UMC’s ongoing commitment to growth and excellence.
Paul has come a long way since he first started as a plumber with UMC, and he believes that’s all because of UMC’s incredible culture and environment. He loves how everyone supports and encourages one another to be their best. For Paul, UMC’s commitment to its core values and integrity has helped the company grow to become an industry leader. He’s grateful for the opportunities and challenges he’s faced as part of the UMC team. Each opportunity has helped him move forward in his career in ways he never dreamed of. Now, as he transitions to his role of project executive, overseeing the project managers here in Colorado, Paul knows that the team here in Colorado has the skills to help UMC continue to develop and meet its goals. He’s proud to be a part of the Colorado team!
