It’s never easy to change industries, but one of our most recent hires, Teresa Ibarra, did just that. After working in medical reception for the past seven years, Teresa joined UMC, Inc. as an office manager in January. It’s been a big change, and Teresa is slowly learning the new industry. She’s very grateful to be part of the UMC, Inc. family and to no longer work with cranky medical patients anymore!
Teresa has quickly learned that at UMC, Inc., we are a supportive family. However, it wasn’t easy for her to understand how our job sites and projects worked at first. So she mentioned that she was a visual learner and asked to go on some site visits. Of course, we were happy to oblige. Teresa has now visited many of our projects to see how the work she is doing in the office translates to the job site.
One of Teresa’s main jobs is helping to manage our fixture spreadsheets. These documents are essential for our project managers, as they outline what type of fixtures we need, how many, and whether they are approved. Right now, while supplies are hard to come by and ordering delays are expected, maintaining these spreadsheets so we can order our fixtures to fit our project timelines is a crucial job. Teresa’s adapted well to the task and helped our project managers with any other tasks they needed.
Though Teresa has only been with UMC, Inc. for a short time, she’s already grown to love the environment. According to Teresa, the vibe of continual growth and supportive teaching made her feel welcome. She knows that if she wants to learn something or has questions, she’ll be able to ask for the help she needs. Even in the daily morning meetings, someone is always offering to help teach and support others. That supportive culture and workmanship set UMC, Inc. apart and made Teresa feel welcome here.
Teresa’s future goals are the same as our company goals. She wants to keep growing and learning, take on new responsibilities, and maybe become a project manager one day. She knows that she’s in the right place to learn and move forward because of how supportive everyone in her Colorado office is. For now, she’s happy to be learning new things every day, and she’s beginning to understand how the project plans and outlines translate to the job site. Even though UMC, Inc. is an entirely different environment than her previous workplace experiment, she’s thrilled to be part of the team. We’re so excited to have Teresa here at UMC, Inc!
