Our team makes us who we are here at UMC, Inc. Without our people; we would be nowhere. And one of our valued members of the UMC, Inc. team is our very own Ricardo Legarburo! We would love to introduce you to him.
Hi, Ricardo!
Ricardo joined UMC, Inc. in 2018 as part of the quality and safety team. Ricardo has nearly 30 years of industry experience working with quality management and safety systems as a chemical engineer. He works at the Colorado location but visits the Utah headquarters a few times each month as part of his work.
Ricardo is an integral part of the team here at UMC, Inc. and helps us maintain our core values. Living our core values is a passion for Ricardo. He was drawn to UMC, Inc. because of the core values the company embodies. As Ricardo says, “The core values don’t just hang on the wall. Everyone lives these values.” One of the things that Ricardo loves most about working with our team is that there is such a focus on constant improvement. He really admires how everyone is trying to be their best and loves to participate in helping team members not only improve at their job but improve who they are as a person.
A Valued Member of Our Quality Team
As part of the quality team, Ricardo works hard to help improve productivity while creating a culture of safety and quality. He doesn’t believe in rushing jobs or doing anything halfway. For Ricardo, quality and safety go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other. One way he tries to emphasize this in the workplace is by focusing on daily habits. His role is to help UMC, Inc. members change their mindsets to focus on quality and safety but adopting daily habits that put those principles into action.
This past year safety was a huge concern as the COVID-19 pandemic raged. Ricardo helped UMC, Inc. work with our general contractor partners to enact safety protocols on the job site to help prevent the spread. As much as these health and safety rules mattered, Ricardo felt most impressed to work on was helping employees to stay emotionally and mentally healthy. The past year’s challenge was difficult for everyone, and Ricardo was grateful to be a part of the UMC, Inc. team and have a culture of checking in and supporting one another in place.
One of Ricardo’s biggest responsibilities is to help our company uphold the principles of the Theory of Constraint. He monitors the metrics to know how well we are doing on the job site and office. His work helps us identify weak areas and strengthen those areas in the company with extra support. This work is vital to helping us maintain our high standards, meet our deadlines, and help our team become their best selves.
Thank you, Ricardo!
We’re so grateful to have Ricardo as part of the team, and we’re lucky that it’s a sentiment that he shares. He’s grateful to be a part of the UMC, Inc. team and part of our company culture.
